New York Physician Profile
The Center for Health Workforce Studies has released its annual report, The Supply and Distribution of Physicians in New York, 2006. The profile is based on an analysis of responses to an ongoing re-registration survey of licensed physicians in the state. The report documents changes in the distribution of physicians in New York. While the overall supply of physicians grew by 5% between 2001 and 2005, some regions saw declines in their number of patient care physicians. The Finger Lakes and Western New York regions experienced declines of 6% and 10%, respectively, in their physician supply over that time period.
